CASE STUDY
THE CLIENT:
A group including high net-worth individuals and professional athletes.
The Challenge:
The organization was traveling to Mexico for humanitarian efforts and needed to ensure that their high-profile members would be safe. Additionally, they were planning on using a drone to film their work, which could bring unwanted attention.
The Approach:
Group Nine Risk Consulting worked with a diverse pool of security experts and local contacts in Mexico to provide an overview of the region’s armed gangs and criminal, terrorist, and medical threats. Our assessment highlighted several high-risk regions associated with kidnapping and violent gang activity. We also conducted a digital evaluation of the entire group to determine specific risks associated with each traveler based on their pre-trip social media activity. The Group Nine Risk Consulting team created a plan to balance the organization’s need to visit certain city areas while also modifying to avoid risks. We helped the client recognize vulnerabilities and pre-attack indicators to prevent potential dangers before they became threats. We also offered specific advice for the drone camera operators to help mitigate the unique risks of drone filming in the region.
The Result:
The client praised our advice and expertise, which allowed them to avoid dangerous situations that could have harmed the delegation and endangered their humanitarian mission. The travel was completed without incident thanks to the work of Group Nine Risk Consulting.
